This live concert of Schubert’s searing masterpiece, which traces the solitary winter journey and descent into madness of a rejected lover, is one of the greatest achievements in classical song literature. This will be the fourth in our ongoing Thornwillow Concerts at Calvary series and will be performed by celebrated countertenor Daniel Moody with Lowell Liebermann at the piano. Integrated into the performance will be projected artwork created by Leon Johnson and translations of the German text by Lowell Liebermann. Attendance at this live performance is free.
Please use the RSVP form above to reserve your place at the conert.
Following the concert will be a benefit dinner curated by artist and chef, Leon Johnson for those who would like to contribute support for the new series and enjoy a fun after party. In addition to the locally sourced artisanal dinner, attendees will receive a signed and numbered limited edition print by Leon Johnson.
Please use the ticket form above to reserve and pay for your dinner reservation
This concert is part of a larger, multifaceted project that unites poetry, music, artwork, and live performance in a Thornwillow Winter Journey that we trust will blow you over.
In addition to the concert, Thornwillow will be releasing as part of its monthly Dispatch series, Wilhelm Müller’s 24 poems that Schubert was inspired to set to music for his Winterreise song cycle. In the edition, they will appear in the original German alongside a new translation by Lowell Liebermann (who as mentioned above will be performing the song cycle with with Daniel Moody) and a suite of moving original artwork by award winning artist Leon Johnson (who is also curating the very special, locally sourced Benefit Dinner after the concert).
Those interested in acquiring one of the limited edition publications can subscribe to the Thornwillow Dispatch before January 27th here.
After the pre-publication subscription period ends on January 27, copies of the edition will be available on the Thornwillow website a la carte at a higher, post-publication price.
