To celebrate the recent restoration of the E.M. Skinner Pipe Organ (Opus 512)  at Calvary Presbyterian Church and to support our new music series Thornwillow Concerts at Calvary under the artistic direction of Lowell Liebermann, Please join us to hear prize winning organist:

Felix Hell

performing masterworks of Bach, Mendelssohn, Widor, and Liszt.

on Saturday March 30, 2024 at 5pm.



To meet organist Felix Hell and Artistic Director Lowell Liebermann.

Leon Johnson, artist and chef, will provide a locally sourced menu of light fare to follow the concert at Hudson Valley House Parts 201 Ann St, Newburgh, NY 12550.

Attendance to the concert is free. The post concert Patrons Reception is $100 per person  to benefit the ongoing series committed to making  great music accessible to the community. The deadline for signing up for the reception is Monday, March 25th at 11:30 PM!

Bach: Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, BWV 565
Bach: Trio Sonata No. 1 in E-Flat Major, BWV 525
Mendelssohn: Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 65
Widor: Andante Sostenuto, from Symphony No. 9 “Gothique,” Op. 70
Liszt: Prelude and Fugue on B-A-C-H

A native of Germany, Felix Hell is one of the most sought after concert organists in the world. He has been featured as a recitalist and concerto soloist in more than 1000 concerts throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. The American Organist raved that he “sets standards that older and honored players would struggle to equal.”

Past venues include Disney Hall in Los Angeles, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York, the Esplanade in Singapore, Dewan Filharmonik Petronas in Kuala Lumpur, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Great Philharmonic Hall in St. Petersburg, National Center for the Arts Weiwuying in Kaohsiung, National Theatre and Concert Hall in Taipei, as well as Yongsan Art Hall in Seoul. Furthermore, Mr. Hell has performed in the cathedrals of Berlin, Regensburg, Riga, Bogota, Reykyavik, Munich, Ulm, Speyer, Worms, and Passau.

Mr. Hell has been concerto soloist with the Baltimore Symphony, Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic, McGill Chamber Orchestra, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, New England Conservatory Orchestra, Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, National Academy Orchestra of Canada, Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Pfalztheaterorchester Kaiserslautern, and the Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie.
